This book vividly depicts the progress of China’s poverty alleviation with a particular focus on the author’s first-hand experiences witnessing the historical changes of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and the development of Minning Town. During his extensive field research in Ningxia, Shanxi, Guizhou, Tibet, Inner Mongolia, and Hunan, the author interviewed poor households and the grassroots officials, narrating their experiences before and after shaking off poverty. Depicting representative stories of different regions in China, this book, more than just an account of how people emerged from poverty, also tells how they came to earn a better living and their feelings and reflections on poverty alleviation policies.
作者簡介
About the Author Sun Yongming is a member of Fujian Provincial Writers’ Association and China TV Artists Association (CTAA). He has published Gu Wenchang: The Man Who Greened an Island, Fond Memories: Stories of Officials Assisting Tibet, and other books. The documentaries he has written include Visiting Taiwan, The Road Builders of Fujian, and The Bond Between Fujian and Tibet: Fujian Officials Working in Tibet. His writings have won the Best Works Award by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and Best Literary Works of Fujian Province.
